PROFILE

Chiharu Takakura joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1983. She was a Fulbright Scholar at Georgetown University in 1990 and received an MBA in 1992. From 1993, she was in charge of consulting on organizational restructuring and its related human resource development and new business implementation at Sanwa Research Institute. From 1999, she was the Human Resources Director of Pfizer, and from 2006, the Human Resources Director at Novartis Pharma. In 2014, she was named Global Human Resources Director at Ajinomoto, where she built and developed a global HR system. She has been a director at Rohto Pharmaceutical since 2020 and a CHRO since 2022.
Ms. Takakura has been an outside director of Japan Spark Plug since 2022 and is chair of the Sustainability Committee. Since 2023, she has been an outside director of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Nomura Real Estate Holdings, and has been a member of the Advisory Board of Chuo University Business School since 2024. She is engaged in strategic human resources with an eye on the future direction of the company's management, and promotes the development of diverse next-generation human resources.
