PROFILE

Ken Shibusawa founded Shibusawa and Company, Inc., an advisory firm, in 2001 and Commons Asset Management in 2008. He joined Brunswick Group as a senior advisor in 2021. In 2022, he founded & Capital for impact investing into Africa.

Mr. Shibusawa is currently the director of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives), co-chair of the Middle East-Africa Committee, advisor to the President (University of Tokyo), advisor to the chairman of ISSB, chair of GSG Impact Japan, on the board of directors of International Foundation for Valuing Impact, and a member of several government committees.

From 1988 to 2001, he worked at JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs and Moore Capital, a global macro hedge fund. In 2012-2013, he was president of the Japan Center for International Exchange.

Mr. Shibusawa speaks on a wide range of topics, especially the modern-day interpretation of the legacy of his great-great father, Eiichi Shibusawa, who is considered the father of Japanese capitalism.

He moved to the U.S. as a child and graduated from University of Texas with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1983. After working in Japan in international relations, He later returned to the US to earn an MBA from UCLA in 1987.
