PROFILE

Yasuko Miyajima is a sports and culture journalist who has been producing sports programs for over 40 years. She has covered 19 Summer and Winter Olympics, beginning with the Moscow Olympics in 1980. She produced the Paralympics from 1992 (Barcelona) to 2004 (Athens). She covered sports from a unique perspective—editing, narrating, and working in the studio—mainly for News Station at TV Asahi. She has served for many years as a member of the Youth Sports Subcommittee of the Central Council for Education and the Policy Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Ms. Miyajima has served as a part-time lecturer at Waseda University and as a visiting professor at Juntendo University. She currently serves on the board of directors at Cultivator, and was previously a director for the Japan Volleyball Association, the B-League (Japan Professional Basketball League), the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, and the vice-chair of the Public Relations Subcommittee of the Japanese Olympic Committee. Ms. Miyajima received the 2016 Women in Sports Award from the Japanese Olympic Committee. She currently publishes sports articles and YouTube videos on Web Cultivator.
