After graduating from the Department of Nutrition and Food Scienceof Ochanomizu Women's University in 1983, Ms. Machiko Miyai joined Matsushita Electric Industrial.

In the Rice Cooker Business Division, she worked on the development of cooking software technology. The division created an entirely new market for IH (Induction Heat) rice cookers, a major product hit for the company.

In 1993, she transferred to the Electrical Appliance Center and has been involved in the research and software development of bread-makers, automatic fish-grillers, and deep- friers. In 2001, she led a project to create advertisements from a woman's perspective for the National brand, which evolved into the "N Plan" brand message. Appointed director of the Lifestyle Value Research Laboratory in 2001, She remains involved in the development of new products and concepts, from the perspective of the consumer.
