Meyumi Yamada graduated from Tokyo University of Science in 1995 and from the University of Tokyo’s Executive Management Program in 2018. Based on the response to the e-mail magazine that she started as a hobby while working at a cosmetics company, she planned and formulated the cosmetics information site "@cosme". She then co-founded istyle Inc. in 1999, where she serves as director. She also serves as an outside director at Seino Holdings, Sompo Holdings, Seven &i Holdings, and is on a school boards. In recognition of her activities to support the diverse ways in which women can play an active role, she won the Grand Prix in the individual category at the Forbes JAPAN WOMEN AWARD 2017. In 2021, together with industry volunteers, she launched the Cosmetics Bank Project and the Bank for Smiles, which delivers surplus cosmetics from the cosmetics industry to households facing difficulties.
