PROFILE
Ms Annelize Schroeder is currently the Minister Plenipotentiary at the South African Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Ms Schroeder joined the then Department of Foreign Affairs of South Africa in January 1992 and completed her diplomatic training in December 1993.
Acting Chief Director: Middle East, Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO: August 2021 – February 2022).
Director: Gulf States at DIRCO (2018 - 2022).
Director: Strategic Support in the Office of the Deputy Director-General: Asia and Middle East (2016 – 2018).
Served as Deputy Director: China (2015 – 2016), Oceania (2013 – 2015) and Levant (2012 – 2013).
Counsellor: Bilateral, SA Embassy, Paris (2008 – 2011).
Deputy Director: Cuba and Andean Community (2005 – 2008).
Assistant Director: United Nations General Assembly (2004– 2005).
Head of Operations, South African Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA), (2001 – 2004).
Assistant Director: Disarmament (1998 – 2001). During this time, Ms Schroeder was also the Departmental representative for negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, regarding the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR).
