Masami Katakura is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). After managing the audits of major manufacturers, she was the deputy director in the Information Policy Division, Commerce & Information Policy Bureau, of the Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI) from 2005 to 2007. She also served as a committee member for government groups and panels on evaluating initiatives for information services and software technology. Katakura was promoted to Senior Partner in 2011. She assumed her position as Executive Board Member of Strategic Planning & Brand, Marketing and Communication in 2016. As of July 1st 2019, Masami was named the first Chairwoman and CEO of large and mid-size audit firms in Japan.
In terms of contributing to society, Masami has participated in activities to foster young entrepreneurs in Kesennuma and Minamisanriku through the Tohoku Mirai Initiative. She also became a Catalyst Japan advisory board member in 2016.
