Chiharu Takakura joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1983. She moved to the US in 1990 with a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Georgetown University, where she earned an MBA. She joined a consulting company in 1993 as a consultant on organization structures and human resources development, etc. in relation to organizational restructuring, new business execution, and other issues. She later transferred to human resources, holding posts as human resource director at Pfizer Japan Inc. from 1999, Nippon Becton Dickinson Company, Ltd. from 2004, and Novartis Pharma K.K from 2006.

Ms. Takakura joined Ajinomoto Co., Inc. in July 2014 and assumed her current position in April 2018. She leads the development and execution of the global human resources system to drive Ajinomoto’s global strategy.
