Sawako Nohara graduated from the School of Science at Nagoya University. After being affiliated with Mitsubishi Petrochemical (currently Mitsubishi Chemical), Ochanomizu University Graduate School, Living Science Institute, Inc., and InfoCom Research Inc., she established IPSe Marketing, Inc. in 2000. As its President and CEO, she engaged in research and consultation for digital/high-tech related business.

Since 2004, Ms. Nohara has served on over 80 department/agency councils and research committees, including the Council for Industrial Competitiveness; the Cabinet IT Comprehensive Strategy Headquarters; the Cabinet Cybersecurity Strategy Headquarters; the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Industrial Structure Council; the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Council of Transport, Policy Port Subcommittee; and the Japan Fair Trade Commission Antimonopoly Committee.

Ms. Nohara has also held the title of director at JIPDEC, KDDI Foundation, and NTT DOCOMO Mobile Society Research Institute, and been a member of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology Advisory Committee.

Since 2009, she has been engaged in educating the next generation as Project Professor at Keio University Graduate School of Media and Governance.
