PROFILE
Minori Takao lived in England and in Egypt during her childhood.
While studying international relations at International Christian University,
she started work as a freelance reporter, MC, and translator.
In 1998, she was chosen to anchor for NHK's English TV news program and has since continued that career.
She later became an NHK employee and has been producing documentaries and other programs on current affairs and humanitarian issues, mainly in Asia and the US. She covered the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake for years and reported from inside the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Currently, she is based in New York as anchor and executive producer for NHK World-Japan.
Aside from her career at NHK, she's been MC for events like the World Assembly for Women (Japanese MInistry of Foreign Affairs), the World Economic Forum, UN Women, and Pope Francis' visit to Tokyo.
