PROFILE
Tamao Sasada is Japan country executive and a member of the Asia Pacific Executive Committee for Bank of America. She is also head of Japan Investment Banking and head of Asia Pacific Financial Institutions Group.
As Japan country executive and representative director of BofA Securities Japan, Tamao is responsible for driving the strategic direction and overseeing the operation of the bank’s Japan franchise. In investment banking, her primary focus is to advise clients on their various strategic needs, from capital raising, funding diversification to cross-border M&A opportunities.
Prior to joining BofA Securities (formerly Merrill Lynch) in 1998, Tamao worked at Itochu Corporation and spent three years as a corporate lawyer at Skadden Arps and Milbank Tweed in New York, where she engaged in various project finance and corporate finance transactions for Japanese banks as well as international financial institutions. Tamao is a member of the New York Bar Association and a solicitor in the state of New South Wales, Australia.
Active in promoting ESG in the business community, Tamao serves as a council member on Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Green Finance Market Initiative. She also actively promotes ESG and SDGs through activities at the Japan Securities Dealers Association.
Tamao is a passionate advocate for the empowerment of female leaders, serving as a member of the firm’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Council and Co-chair of the Asia Pacific Diversity & Inclusion Council. She was selected as a Global Ambassador to provide mentorship for emerging women leaders in Japan in the 2015 Global Ambassadors Program, a partnership between Vital Voices and Bank of America.
Tamao has a B.A. in Law from Keio University and University of Sydney.
