Masako Mori
Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in Charge of Women’s Empowerment
PROFILE
Mori Masako is a member of the House of Councilors (the upper house of Japan’s Parliament) who has dedicated her life to serving the people of Fukushima and the nation of Japan.
Known for her passion and grit, she is not only a politician but also a lawyer, a former official at the Financial Services Agency, a wife, and a mother of two daughters.
Mori has served as Minister in Charge of Support for Women's Empowerment and Child-Rearing (2012-2014) and as Minister of Justice (2019).
She is currently the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister in Charge of Women’s Empowerment, under the administration of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
Mori’s passion is to empower women, protect the future of our children, and to advance the reconstruction and revitalization of Fukushima following the March 2011 earthquake and nuclear power plant accident.
