PROFILE

Hajime Yamasaki

Economist
Research Fellow, Rakuten Securities Economic Research Institute

Mr. Yamasaki was born in Hokkaido in 1958. After graduating the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo, he joined Mitsubishi Corporation. He worked at some of Japan's leading insurance and banking firms until 2005, when he took the post of Research Fellow at Rakuten Securities Economic Research Institute.
He also currently serves as CEO of MyBenchmark Co., Ltd., an investment and investment education service consulting company. Mr. Yamasaki is also Special-Appointment Professor at the Faculty of Economics at Dokkyo University.
Mr. Yamasaki has authored several publications, mainly on equity investment and asset management. His many titles include "Cho Kantan Okane no Unyoujyutsu (So simple: Money investment tactics)" (Asahi Shimbun Publications), "Okane ga Fueru Simple na Kangaekata (Simple mindset that will increase money)" (Diamond), and "Toushi Baka (Investment Idiots)" (Kodansha).

He also appears often in the media to discuss changing jobs and self-development based on his experience of switching jobs.
