Yukiko Arai
Senior Specialist, ILO Multinational Enterprises Programme

Ms. Arai is the Senior Specialist of the International Labour Organization (ILO)'s Multinational Enterprises Programme. She leads the programme's research portfolio and country-level activities, focusing on the employment and social impact of foreign direct investment into developing economies, employment conditions in global supply chains, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
She joined the ILO in January 2001 through the Young Professionals Career Entrance Programme. She worked in the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour in Geneva headquarters before moving to the ILO Regional Office in Bangkok where she was responsible for the child labour country programmes in Southeast Asia. In May 2003, she became the region's Poverty Specialist. In March 2006, she returned to Geneva headquarters to join the Multinational Enterprises Programme.
Prior to the ILO, she worked at the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, both based in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. She was also a researcher at the Ministry of Education in Mexico.
Ms. Arai holds an M.A. in International Economics with sub-concentration in Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins University (U.S.A.), and B.A. in Law from Keio University (Japan).
