Shigehisa Yoshida
President, Executive Officer
NIHONWASOU HOLDINGS, Inc.
Mr. Yoshida was born in Fukuoka prefecture in 1962. He founded an import and sales company before graduating the Faculty of Commerce Evening School at Fukuoka University. His interest in the kimono industry was spurred by a comment by a kimono fabric shop owner he met at the time. In 1987, he launched the business model of a "kimono sales broker" to protect and promote the kimono culture by increasing the kimono-wearing population with free kimono-wearing classes. His company was listed on the JASDAQ securities exchange in 2006. More than 150,000 students across Japan have completed the free four-month kimono-wearing course, about to begin its 23rd year. Over 20,000 women learn how to wear the kimono themselves every year.
Mr. Yoshida is the father of two sons and two daughters. He was diagnosed with Graves' disease last fall, but his symptoms have alleviated since. He now works with a commitment to maintaining work-life balance. http://blog.nihonwasou.co.jp/
