Yasuhiro Kozaki
Associate Professor, Pedagogy Department, Kobe Tokiwa University
Mr. Kozaki was born in 1968 and lives in Hyogo prefecture. He was the first male staff member for a public daycare center in Nishinomiya, Hyogo-ken and worked for 12 years in facilities and daycare centers. During this time, he took paternity leave for each of his three children.
He writes about his experiences in a regular column in the Asahi Shimbun called "Ikukyu Tosan no Seicho Nisshi (Journal of a developing father on paternity leave)." He currently conducts research, gives lectures, and writes about work and life balance with a focus on males raising children, paternity leave, and male day care staff.
Mr. Kozaki is very vocal and visible on TV, newspapers, radio, and magazines, including the NHK show "Suku Suku Kosodate (Raising thriving children)." He has written a number of books, such as "Ikukyu Tosan no Seicho Nisshi" (Japan Broadcast Publishing) and "Dansei Hoikushi Monogatari (Story of a male daycare staff)" (Minerva Shobo). He has been a moderator for ewoman's roundtable discussion forum since 2005.
