Elok Halimah
Chairperson, Foreign Representatives Assembly of Kawasaki City
Ms. Elok was born and raised in East Java, Indonesia.
After graduating from the Japanese Department at Gadjah Mada University in 2001, she worked for numerous international events and conferences in Indonesia.
In 2002, she went on to study at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies under a Japanese Government Scholarship and earned her master degree in Japanese Literature in 2006. Ms. Elok was active as an instructor of Intercultural Understanding Program at elementary, junior high, and senior high schools in the Tokyo area for 3 years, from 2003 to 2006 (International Audio-Visual Education Association). She previously worked at UNICUL International, Inc. and as a legal secretary at a law firm in Tokyo.
After serving as Vice Chairperson of the Foreign Assembly of Kawasaki City for two years, from April 2010 she serves as Chairperson, became the first female chairperson in the history of the Assembly. She is currently back again to Japanese schools to pursue her passion in teaching children on intercultural understanding.
