Kansai Yamamoto
Designer/Producer
Mr. Yamamoto was born in 1944. In recent years, he has transcended the boundaries of fashion designer and has produced several events in Japan and abroad. He has garnered enthusiastic support; his shows having brought in a total of over one million people. In January 2007, he was director and executive producer of the "KANSAI SUPER SHOW: Ship of the Sun" at Tokyo Dome. Approximately 42,000 people came to see this show, which was lauded as a huge event of unprecedented scale. In July 2008, he produced the "Festival of Life" as the main event of Japan Week at the Expo Zaragoza. This year on May 23, he is slated to produce the Festival of Life in Bali, Indonesia.
Mr. Yamamoto was general producer of the venue and social events at the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit, a member of the Art and Culture Council of Tokyo, and adviser to the Tokyo 2016 Bid Committee.
