Nobuyuki Idei

CEO, Quantum Leaps Corporation

Mr. Idei was born in Tokyo in 1937. He joined Sony Corp. after graduating Waseda University in 1960. He served as general manager of the Audio Group and senior general manager of the Home Video Group before being appointed to the board of directors in 1989 and named managing director in 1994. After being appointed president and COO in 1995, he served in a variety of leadership positions over the following decade, including chairman and CEO, as well as chief corporate advisor from 2005 to 2007. He is currently chairman of the Advisory Board of Sony Corp.
After retiring as chairman and CEO of Sony in June 2005, Mr. Idei established Quantum Leaps in September 2006 and is actively working to vitalize industry and create new industries and business.
He also serves as external director of companies such as Accenture Ltd., Baidu.com, and FreeBit Co., Ltd, as is chairman of the National Conference on Fostering Beautiful Forests in Japan.
