Sanzo Okada
President, Hida Sangyo Corporation
Mr. Okada was born in 1943 in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture and graduated from the Faculty of Management, Ritsumeikan University in 1968. Prior to his current position, he was president of Fujiya Corporation, vice president of Varlor Corporation, and director of Hida Corporation in 2000.
In 2001 Mr. Okada launched a furniture product line called "Mori no Kotoba" (the Language of the Forest), with the basic idea to use previously neglected wood materials. In 2005 Mr. Okada collaborated with Enzo Mari, a maestro of Italian interior design, to create "HIDA", furniture products made from Japanese cedar wood using a heating compression system. His company currently manages an interior design store in Omotesando Hills.
In 2008 Mr. Okada established the Gifu Branch Office of "Japan Bear Forest Association" that aims to protect forests in their local communities and was appointed as the head of the branch office. Mr. Okada also serves as deputy director of the Hida Woodwork Association and director of the International Development Association of the Furniture Industry of Japan. Mr. Okadafs personal goal is to be a business manager who successfully balances economic and ecological concerns.
