Chihiro Nishimoto
Director, Japan Area Management Inc.
Ms. Nishimoto was born in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture in 1983. While still studying economics at Saitama University, she worked as an intern at Shoutengai Network Inc. (Shopping Street Network Inc.). After graduating from university, Ms. Nishimoto established Japan Area Management Inc. to help support local communities preserve their local and traditional cultures. Together with some other companies and group's leaders, she also founded "Association of Area Management Promotion" to improve and promote local communities' resources and tourism attractions. At the Association, she coordinates and bridges local communities and governmental institutions, and at the same time helps communities in creating policies and visions.
Ms. Nishimoto has won several prestigious awards, including "Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Award" in the "Essay Contest on Area and Local Communities Management", conducted by Mainichi Newspapers Corp. in 2006 and "Special Award from the President of the Junior Chamber International Japan" in 2006.
